| This 3,000 pound Brangus bull made soft grunting sounds each time I approached his paddock. The first 4 weeks I observed him, I took well over 100 digital images of him, as well as trying to sketch him. He would always turn his head or his backside away from me. No matter what I did, he gave me a bovine laugh. I was ready to give up on him ever letting me get a decent photo of him. Next to the last day of my visit to the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum I made the rounds one last time to visit all the cattle residing at the museum, I sighed and thought I had to give up attempting to paint this unforgettable bull. He had the most knowing and gentle eyes. As I was standing by the Longhorn corral watching the Longhorn bull pawing the ground, I heard this low rumbling growl about 200 feet from me. I looked up towards the top of the hill and saw this speck staring at me. There he was standing in a magnificent pose to let me know he had been playing games with me all along. He maintained his pose until I was finished. |
