Passing Through
This young, handsome Texas Longhorn steer and I met in Virginia. I love his markings, and those beautiful, liquid brown eyes that stayed fixed on me, no matter where I walked up and down the outside of his pasture. He was so determined to follow me. I believe it was more out of curiosity than anything else. I recall reading some time ago that the famous Texas Longhorn auctioneer, Eddie Wood, said, “A Texas Longhorn Steer will stop more traffic than a dead man.” This could be why counties post; DO NOT PARK signs up and down the roads where Longhorns graze next to main thoroughfares so there will be no traffic jam.
